To stand out from other brands communicating during the pandemic, No Frills leaned into culture to break through with “A Cart Apart.” The more than two-minute long, original music track employed catchy lyrics, included rules to follow for safe shopping and encouraged the “Hauler” community to treat each other kindly.
It tackled toilet paper hoarding head on with lyrics like “hauling isn’t hoarding” and encouraged physical distancing by “keeping a cart apart.” The song launched on YouTube and Spotify and was turned into radio commercials.
Part PSA, part anthem, “A Cart Apart” was labelled the “physical distancing song of summer” and brought in 57 million earned media impressions and more than 72,000 streams on Spotify.
