The dance known as The Floss is a global phenomenon. Was this the result of a few moments of inspiration and amusement amplified by social media? Was it a harmless gag that memed its way into every corner of pop culture organically? No. It was a cunning plan to sell dental floss expertly engineered by a “small- to mid-sized Canadian ad agency.” As the dance propagated across social platforms, videogames and wedding videos, John St. slowly convinced a generation to floss their teeth. Or so they claim in a satiricial video that seemingly served as a platform for The Floss dance trend, but was actually a way to showcase the humorous minds at John St.
