2026 Winner

As donations declined and competition for charitable dollars intensified, the Jane/Finch Community Centre needed a more sustainable way to fund programs in a community that had long been overlooked. The approach tapped into the surge in corporate DEI spending, positioning Jane/Finch not as a recipient of support, but as the source of it. “Write Us Off” introduced accredited bias training built with Jane/Finch youth, artists and academics, offering companies a way to redirect existing training budgets toward lived experience, while making it tax-deductible. A provocative launch line and national media coverage helped legitimize the offer and spark interest. Within 30 days, nearly 50 businesses signed on, creating a new revenue stream and repositioning the Centre as a scalable provider of community-led expertise.
