The 2025 Quality of Life Report from Calgary Foundation set out to move beyond a standard data summary and capture a more complex reality: while some Calgarians feel optimistic, many others are still struggling, with experiences shaped by income, age, gender, race and housing. Reimagined as a human-centred narrative, the report highlights gaps between perception and lived experience, organizing content around key disparities. The design uses contrast, restrained layouts and shifting hierarchy to create tension, while a system of layering and progressive reveal withholds, then expands, more information, prompting readers to look closer and reconsider initial assumptions.
