The Alto high-speed rail project, a proposed high-speed train connecting Quebec City to Toronto, needed to make a multi-billion-dollar concept tangible and generate early public buy-in. The identity was built around the idea of “the connecting line,” a central visual device that moves through all materials as a dynamic through-line, representing both the physical rail link and the connection between communities. This was supported by a wordmark that references the silhouette of the train and a non-partisan colour palette rooted in the Canadian landscape: Boreal Green, Violet and Polar White. Designed to exist in motion, the system creates a unified presence across touchpoints, giving form to the project and helping shift perception from idea to something concrete.
