With food insecurity reaching record highs in Quebec, The Media Food Drive’s 24th annual campaign aimed to show how quickly hunger can take hold. Drawing on real stories from food assistance recipients, “Hunger: The End” used short narratives – films, audiobooks and more – that end abruptly with the word “FAIM.” In French, “faim” means “hunger” but sounds similar to “fin,” or “The End,” creating a powerful double meaning. Each story ended with a sudden hardship that brought hunger and the story itself to an abrupt close. TV spots featured cinematic elements and well-known Quebec actors to make the impact feel even more real.
