With its new fundraising campaign, CHU Sainte-Justine aimed to raise the largest amount in Quebec’s philanthropic history to secure the hospital’s leadership in pediatric healthcare, and fund its transition into the era of precision medicine. “The Orange” showed how a real child’s life was transformed by advanced medical care. Through animation and a tone that is delicate and full of childlike innocence, the three-minute video features a girl who goes about her life with a tumour in her head, represented to the viewer as an orange, until a doctor removes it.
