To promote its Aventura card, CIBC created “The World is Your Oyster,” a film that uses the well-known phrase as its main theme. With a high-energy song as the backdrop, it follows the journeys of oysters in different contexts and countries, featuring constantly moving camera work that reflects the dynamic and thrilling lifestyles of the people depicted. Oysters are shucked seaside before landing on restaurant and bar tables or served and sold in street markets or poolside. Oysters reveal pearls hidden within, which are then turned into jewellery, tried on in jewellery shops, purchased in the streets and appreciated by a museumgoer who happens to be viewing the famous “Girl with a Pearl Earring” painting by Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer. The film cleverly brings the metaphor to life, showing that with the Aventura card, the world
truly is your oyster.
