With air pollution and pollen levels on the rise, Allegra saw an opportunity to help allergy sufferers beyond just offering medication. Many were staying indoors to avoid worsening symptoms, so the brand created “Allegra Airways,” a real-time navigation tool that helps users find walking, running and biking routes with cleaner air. It uses live data from 12 types of pollen and seven pollutants across all 50 U.S. states, accurate to within five metres. The tool launched at SXSW and Climate Week with on-the-ground activations like branded pedicabs offering cleaner-air rides and digital trucks displaying alternate routes. Celebrity allergy sufferer Lance Bass also helped spread the word. “Allegra Airways” quickly gained traction, driving over 4 billion earned impressions.
