Agenda Antarctica
"The Antarctic Flag Redesigned"
Publicis
When microplastics were discovered in freshly fallen Antarctic snow, Agenda Antarctica launched “The Antarctic Flag Redesigned” – a bold campaign to make the invisible visible. With limited resources, they reimagined Antarctica’s flag, once pure white, into a colourful symbol that reflected the microplastic particles contaminating the continent. Designed by original flag creator Graham Bartram, the new flag became a striking call to action. Unveiled at COP28, it sparked global dialogue and drove support for a Global Plastics Treaty. A dedicated website and petition gathered more than 220,000 signatures from 170 countries. The campaign culminated in a historic plastics ban commitment, proving design can help drive global change.
