"The Antarctic Flag Redesigned"

Agenda Antarctica, an NGO focused on environmental preservation in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean, launched a global awareness campaign to spotlight the microplastic crisis and build support for a Global Plastics Treaty. “The Antarctic Flag Redesigned” enlisted Graham Bartram, creator of the original Antarctic flag, to reimagine it in light of this new environmental threat. While retaining the original shape, Bartram filled it with the distinct colours, shapes and sizes of microplastics identified in a 2022 study that confirmed their presence within Antarctica. The redesigned flag was unveiled at COP28 to capture the attention of global policymakers.
