McDonald’s is planning to open 50,000 new restaurants around the world by 2027 – and Canada is part of those plans. Since a new restaurant is cause for celebration, “Happy Openings” by Cossette featured explosions of confetti shaped as classic McDonald’s menu items – a Big Mac, World Famous Fries or an Egg McMuffin – to convey a festive spirit. To create a sense of movement in static images, McDonald’s used a trampoline, a high-speed camera shooting 30 frames per second and hundreds of tests involving countless pieces of brightly coloured confetti. The McDonald’s toolkit could be adapted to any celebration in any language.
