Broken Heart Love Affair
"Lasagna"
Broken Heart Love Affair
To show how important it is to have heart and passion in the advertising business, Broken Heart Love Affair created “Lasagna” to air at strategy’s Agency of the Year show. The spot used the metaphor of “cooking with love” to get a simple message across: if you don’t love the work enough to put love into the work, the audience isn’t going to love it either. The spot features an Italian grandmother faking the preparation of lasagna in the kitchen while her husband waits for supper in the dining room. As a frozen lasagna cooks in the microwave, the grandmother chops on a cutting board with nothing on it and creates a fake mess in the kitchen by splashing tomato sauce on clean pots stacked in the sink. But when it’s time to eat, her culinary subterfuge can’t mask the inferior flavour of the storebought lasagna, leaving both grandparents and the audience with a bad taste.
