Broken Heart Love Affair
The Royal Ontario Museum’s natural history exhibits are extensive, but the museum wanted to transform its static displays into emotional experiences that would allow people to view their relationship with the natural world in a new light.

Building on ROM’s brand platform “Immortal,” the sequel spot, called “Opera,” features a chimpanzee who sings an operatic aria from L’elisir d’amore – an impassioned love song to our planet – while taking in the range of natural beauty and disasters that have occurred within Earth’s vast timeline.

The cinematic film depicts the splendour and chaos of the natural world, along with profound moments of sadness and awe, to encourage viewers to reconsider humanity’s place within the planet’s history. “Opera” was a three-minute film with 60-, 30- and
15-second cut-downs.
