2024 Winner

White Ribbon, a global organization combating gender-based violence, launched the “Short Life Stories” campaign with Bensimon Byrne to address rising anti-trans hate and violence globally. With a focus on building empathy for the transgender community, the campaign aimed to reach those who don’t understand the severity of violence against transgender individuals. The film showcased both the obstacles faced
and the joy found within the trans community.

Inspired by real-life stories, it highlighted meaningful moments, such as obtaining a new identification or building interpersonal relationships, while also acknowledging the tragic endings faced by many. Launched during Trans Awareness Week, the campaign garnered support from various stakeholders, including the Government of Canada, media companies, and the Mayor of Toronto.
