"Don’t Put Organ Donation On Ice"

Although 90% of Quebeckers say they are in favour of organ donation, only 40% give their official consent. In the past four years, two bills proposing a presumption of consent to organ donation have been tabled in the National Assembly, without being adopted. Meanwhile, 40 people on the transplant list die every year in Quebec.

For World Organ Donor Day, Transplant Québec launched “Don’t put organ donation on ice,” by LG2, creating a replica of the human heart in a block of ice and placing it in front of the Parliament Building. Later that day, a motion was adopted to put Bill 194 on the agenda to simplify the process of organ donation in Quebec.
