IGA and Sid Lee embarked on a mission to preserve Quebec’s culinary heritage by creating the province’s first collective family cookbook. Recognizing the potential loss of history in the face of abundant online culinary content, IGA sought to safeguard these cherished holiday memories forever.

Leveraging a provincial rule that requires the government to preserve and make available every published book, the team collected personal holiday recipes from families across Quebec, compiling them into a culinary time capsule. The cookbook prioritized an authentic, heart-warming approach to typography, with each recipe transcribed by hand by the generations who originally crafted them. The book’s cover title was tightly knit, symbolizing the close-knit families who would cherish and preserve these traditions for generations to come. Once completed, IGA enshrined the cookbook at Quebec’s National Archives and Library, making it freely accessible on and offline.
