For the last 30 years, Mechanix has made gloves to protect motorsports mechanics, oil rig workers, first responders and any other hands needing protection. It is also a family-owned company, still run by primary stakeholders. As the company expanded into the global marketplace, its history needed to be written down and preserved.
So Mechanix partnered with Sid Lee to create a seemingly indestructible tool book, called “Hand Built Trust.” Its story was finally told in 300 copies of a metal binder with the brand’s history and values printed on silver paper.
The book was designed to be entertaining and easy-to-read, as well as a tangible historical document for an audience that can usually be found on racetracks and construction
sites.
