Chinese-Canadians instantly recognize red envelopes as part of New Year celebrations. Offered to loved ones as gifts and well-wishes, they are a holiday staple. While many people buy them, Telus made its branded envelopes available for free in its stores. On one side, Telus’ recognizable animal mascot (a hog, being that it’s the Year of the Pig) is hoisted in the air by a balloon. On the other, the words “May your prosperity flourish and take flight” appear.
