Being a soldier can be a traumatic experience – particularly for those who’ve seen action overseas – and it’s difficult for civilians who’ve never been in a war zone to truly understand the toll it can take on a person’s mind. The David Lynch Foundation, a U.S. organization that’s dedicated to raising funds and awareness to help the military, released this video campaign featuring scenes from a war zone. The spot shows exploding buildings, firing guns, and mortar attacks. The ad then reveals that those sounds aren’t exactly what they seem. The gun isn’t a gun, but a rotating ceiling fan or a skateboard on the street. That exploding building is actually a garbage bin rolling down an alleyway. Everyday sounds can bring soldiers back to war, the ad concludes.
