To help fund SickKids’ new $13 billion hospital, the Foundation tapped into the insight that it takes a community to make an architectural assignment of this scale come to life. It created a two-minute video that had real patients running through the streets of Toronto, tearing up buildings and then converging at the base of the hospital’s future home. At the end, one of the patients walks into the empty lot, places a stone, and the crowd swarms to help build the new hospital. The “All In” commercial was supported by murals and a PR push, bringing in new donors from all parts of the community. In addition, the foundation created “MomStrong” and “DadStrong” spots that showed the courage it takes to be a parent with a sick child. Both celebrated family figureheads on Mother’s and Father’s Day, each with a slightly different creative approach, showing the heartbreaking and lonely experiences they endure.
