From over-booked flights to damaged luggage, airliners didn’t have a PR-friendly 2017. Amid the backlash and bad airline press, WestJet tried to win passenger goodwill by launching a roulette wheel that rewarded travelers flying in a plane above. As WestJet flights to Las Vegas passed over the desert, a giant light spun. When the wheel stopped, it displayed a number and the person in that seat won a flight and hotel package prize. The result was some positive press coverage, a viral video and two Guinness World Records.
