To get the word out around the dangers of scam investing, the ASC joined the #fakenews world, launching a fictional investment seminar. To sell the idea, the org put media dollars behind a marketing campaign for the faux seminar, rolled out social ads, and even created a fake company website and LinkedIn profile. Once attendees arrived, the seminar “host” opened with a few words, before inviting the ASC to reveal the truth and demonstrate how easy it is to be deceived – just as the audience had been in that very moment.
