Despite the popularity of the 50 Shades of Grey franchise, there’s still a bit of a taboo when it comes to reading romance novels in public places. To address this concern, Harlequin brought some of its iconic characters (macho Vikings and heart-of-gold cowboys) into the real-world for some very steamy public dates. Captured on hidden cameras, the two videos showcased the over-the-top romance in Harlequin’s books, resulting in more than 11 million views and a widely picked up PR push. If there’s one thing these videos showcase, it’s that romance might be better left bound in the pages of erotic novels.
