Every pet parent has a choice: do you save the suede pillow – retail price, $45.85 – or the bedroom night stand, whose leg can become a teething pup’s $200 pastime. Every dog will either find a chew toy or make its own. And homes, as any dog owner knows, are filled with them.

To help give dog parents a clear picture of this stark reality, Milk-Bone and Leo launched “You Choose What They Chew,” taking a page out of furniture and décor look-books with print ads that showcase a variety of household goods and their associated costs: a Merino wool throw, house slippers and magazines. The idea was to help pet owners understand what’s at stake when they don’t have the proper dog treats on hand.
