CASE SUMMARY

In early 2019, Sid Lee was scheduled to move into a new office. But, construction delays pushed back the moving date, leaving the agency’s 500 employees officeless. That’s when it decided to climb the highest tower in Montreal, Place Ville Marie, and transform the 15th and 21st floors into an urban workspace. The agency called it “Camp Ville Marie” and customized the building’s four quadrants to create the Village, the River, the Mountain and the Woods, each inspired by the city and its surrounding landscapes. It took four months to create the space, with the installations designed to be temporary in order to leave the space unhindered when the agency moved to a more permanent home.
