ARNOLD (Script):
Respected within the scientific community, Arnold Summerfeld was destined to win a Nobel Prize.
He receives his nomination for the Nobel in Physics in 1917 – which he doesn’t win.
The following year he is nominated anew – without success.
In 1919, his odds are great. He earns 2 nominations – and has to settle for nothing, yet again.
But in 1932, after 42 nominations in 15 years, the Nobel prize is finally awarded to Arnold Summerfeld’s… former student. Not. To. Him.
To the end of his days, Arnold Summerfeld racks up nominations without ever getting his hands on the prestigious awards.
A record 84 nominations without a single Nobel prize: that can leave a bitter taste in the mouth, but still not as bitter as the Farnham Ale & Lager double IPA. Very bitter.
